Can you try in incognito, and see whether that works? If so, then you need to clear all of your session cookies on your main browser session.

@shoppingtonz@mastodon.social because the default distribution behaviour is "push-based" (at least how the majority of the fediverse works at present), a follow relationship needs to exist before content is delivered to the follower... even in thread-based systems where that doesn't necessarily make sense.
